Winning Is Fleeting. Twinning Is Forever.

Every summer at Wing Point Golf & Country Club, a familiar ritual plays out.

Teams arrive optimistic. Games are negotiated. Handicaps are questioned. Someone insists they “haven’t been playing much.” Matching shirts appear with varying degrees of commitment.

And then there are Morrison and Garner.

For the 2025 and 2026 Wing Point Member-Guest, they arrived looking remarkably coordinated and, perhaps more importantly, completely convinced this might finally be their year.

The plan was simple.

Play well.

Stay patient.

Avoid unnecessary doubles.

And, ideally, leave with something more meaningful than memories of an open bar and what might have been.

Unfortunately, golf had other ideas.

Ben Garner, playing to a +4 handicap, brought the kind of game that usually inspires confidence. In a net event, however, being that good can occasionally feel less like an advantage and more like a complicated administrative problem.

Pars are expected.

Birdies are helpful.

Anything worse is suddenly catastrophic.

Scott, meanwhile, did his part by repeatedly giving putts every opportunity to fall without requiring any of them to actually do so.

Over the course of the event, there were great shots, missed opportunities, optimistic reads, questionable decisions and enough “that was almost really good” moments to fill an entire weekend.

When it was over, they finished second in their flight.

Respectable.

Painful.

And close enough to ensure they would spend the next several months explaining exactly how they could have won.

But there was one category in which there was never any doubt.

They looked fantastic.

Perfectly coordinated from the first tee to the final handshake, Morrison and Garner proved something golfers have understood for generations:

You cannot always control the bounce.

You cannot always control the leaderboard.

But you can absolutely control the outfit.
