How Should a Golf Polo Fit?

A golf polo should fit cleanly through the shoulders and chest, with enough room to move freely through a full swing without excess fabric getting in the way.

The shoulder seams should sit naturally at the edge of your shoulders, sleeves should finish around mid-bicep, and the body should follow your shape without pulling or feeling restrictive. The length should be long enough to stay tucked while playing, but considered enough to look equally good worn untucked.

The goal is simple: tailored, comfortable and easy to move in.

Where Should the Shoulder Seams Sit?

Start with the shoulders.

The seam where the sleeve meets the body should sit close to the natural edge of your shoulder. If it drops noticeably down your upper arm, the shirt is probably too large. If it pulls inward or feels restrictive when you swing, it’s likely too small.

A good shoulder fit creates the foundation for everything else.

How Long Should Golf Polo Sleeves Be?

For a modern fit, sleeves should generally finish around mid-bicep and sit comfortably against the arm without squeezing it.

Longer, wider sleeves create a more traditional silhouette, while a slightly shorter, cleaner sleeve gives the polo a more contemporary appearance.

Different fabrics will behave differently. Knit polos may naturally sit closer to the arm than a jersey or performance polo, so fit should always feel comfortable rather than forced.

Should a Golf Polo Be Tight or Loose?

Neither.

A well-fitting polo should follow the body without clinging to it. There should be enough room to rotate freely through your swing, but not so much excess fabric that the shirt billows, bunches or feels oversized.

Look at the placket and chest. If the buttons pull or the fabric stretches across your torso, try a larger size. If excess fabric gathers around your waist or under your arms, consider sizing down or choosing a more tailored fit.

The best fit is one you barely have to think about once you put it on.

How Long Should a Golf Polo Be?

A golf polo should be long enough to remain comfortably tucked throughout a round while still looking proportionate when worn untucked.

As a general guide, the hem should fall a few inches below the waistband, around the upper-to-mid fly. If it extends much farther, it can begin to look oversized when untucked. Too short, and it may continually pull free during your swing.

A versatile polo should work both ways.

What’s the Difference Between Classic and Modern Fit?

Traditional golf polos tend to have a straighter, roomier cut through the body with wider sleeves and more overall volume.

A modern or tailored fit removes some of that excess fabric for a cleaner silhouette through the chest, waist and sleeves without becoming tight or restrictive.

It’s an important distinction: tailored doesn’t mean tight.

The goal is simply a more considered fit that looks as appropriate away from the course as it does while playing.

How Do RADMOR Polos Fit?

RADMOR polos are designed with a modern, tailored silhouette that balances fit with freedom of movement.

Our approach to fit comes from decades of experience in both fashion and golf. We want a polo to perform naturally through 18 holes without looking or feeling like traditional technical sportswear once the round is over.

Because fabrics and constructions behave differently, a Pima cotton jersey polo may fit and drape differently from a sweater-knit or performance style. We recommend reviewing the individual product details and size guide when choosing your size.

If you’re between sizes or need help finding the right fit, we’re always happy to help.

A Quick Fit Check

Before removing the tags, check five things:

  • Shoulders: Seams sit naturally at the edge of your shoulders.
  • Sleeves: Finish around mid-bicep without squeezing or flaring.
  • Chest: Fabric follows your body without pulling at the placket.
  • Length: Long enough to stay tucked, clean enough to wear untucked.
  • Movement: Take a few practice swings. Nothing should bind, pull or noticeably ride up.

If the polo looks clean standing still and disappears from your mind once you start swinging, the fit is probably right.
